Find out what your jewellery is worth
We are hosting a Jewellery Valuation Day at the Darlington saleroom on Wednesday 27 July with BBC Antiques Roadshow specialist Susan Rumfitt.
Susan is one of the country’s leading jewellery experts having trained with Christie’s and Philips before setting up her own jewellery consultancy business in Harrogate. She will be available to advise on all types of jewellery – both antique and contemporary.
Anyone receiving a valuation on the day may wish to include the piece in one of our forthcoming sales but there is absolutely no obligation to sell and the valuations are free of charge.
Jewellery has been achieving very high prices in our sales recently thanks to Thomas Watsons’ growing reputation in this area. At this Summer’s Antiques Catalogue Sale, a fabulous modern Italian 18 carat gold and diamond necklace with matching ring and pair of earrings sold for £2,250 and an unusual diamond set enamel horse and jockey brooch circa 1800 reached £2,000.
Timepieces are also popular and at the same auction a gentlemen’s Breguet gold wristwatch was knocked down for £3,200 and a gentlemen’s Jaeger LeCoultre stainless steel wristwatch made £2,600.
If you would like to bring jewellery to the valuation day, please make an appointment with Susan by calling the saleroom on 01325 462 559. However, this is not essential and drop-in visitors are welcome.
