Do you have a piece of jewellery that you would like to know a bit more about or find out how much it is worth? Then why not come along to our specialist Jewellery Valuation Day on Monday 28 September at our Darlington saleroom from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
The event features Susan Rumfitt - one of the country’s leading jewellery experts - who will be on hand to advise on all types of jewellery. Susan trained with Christie’s and Philips before setting up her own jewellery consultancy business in Harrogate and regularly appears on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow as one of their specialists.
Anyone receiving a valuation on the day has the option of submitting the piece for inclusion in one of our forthcoming sales although there is no obligation to sell and the valuations are free of charge.
This is a good time to consider selling jewellery and there have been a number of noteworthy results at recent auctions, which has added to Thomas Watsons’ growing reputation in this area.
At the Summer Catalogue Sale, a single stone 1920’s diamond ring sold for £3,400 and a stunning single row of 112 Tahitian pearls sold for £2,200. Watches also command high prices and at the same auction a gentlemen’s Rolex stainless steel wristwatch went under the hammer for £4,600, way above its £1,400 - £1,800 price estimate.
Anyone wishing to bring jewellery to the valuation day is advised to make an appointment with Susan by calling the saleroom on 01325 462 559, although this is not essential and drop-in visitors are welcome.
