Exciting news! Our Gallery Sale on Tuesday 8 March is going to be filmed as part of BBC1’s popular TV show, Antiques Road Trip.
For those of you who haven’t seen previous series of the programme (and there have been a whopping 12 to-date with another five celebrity editions!), it involves top antique experts travelling across the UK in classic vintage cars, competing in pairs to make the biggest profit buying and selling antiques.
This particular episode follows a week-long route through the North East – taking in both Newcastle and Morpeth – by veteran antiques road-tripper Paul Laidlaw (pictured) and new expert Claire Rawle. Starting with a budget of £200 each, they will visit antique shops in search of bargains that will then be sold at the end of the trip at auction. The aim is to make as much profit as possible and the winning team is declared at the end of the series.
The objects that the team bring in could literally be anything from a piece of jewellery to a vintage toy or unusual artefact and our job is to help Paul and Claire get the best price possible on the day. Think of the pressure on the poor auctioneer – and all in front of a national television audience!
Anyone attending the auction, which is open to the public as usual and starts at 10.00am, will be able to join in the fun and find out how much the individual lots raise. Everyone else will have to wait and see how the experts fared until the programme goes on air in autumn this year. Shhhhhh!
